I like to take objects and various materials from the world of labor and industry that have been discarded, are ugly or unsightly, and weld them into visually and aesthetically appealing sculptures. The initial shape of the object influences or dictates the outcome or the final overall form or appearance that the sculpture will take. I am interested in geometric juxtapositions to make something that is greater than individual parts, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Working spontaneously I weld pieces together removing or adding objects at will, creating a dialogue of textures and shapes. I am not interested in making a statement regarding the environment, ecology, the state of the world, etc.. But in reusing objects I am expressing what can happen when an item is reused or recycled, manipulated, reassembled and is given new life and form. Different various shapes and surfaces of the industrial world are transformed into the abstract, lyrical and unusual.
